Frequently Asked Questions
Q
What is the purpose of Kreate Kafeteria?
A
We wanted to “kreate” an imaginative and safe space where children K-12 and their parents can unleash their creativity after school. With the increasing climate of violence in schools, it’s imperative children can foster their “kreative” interests in an inclusive and immersive environment.
Q
Is admission to Kreate Kafeteria and art programs free?
A
Yes, admission, art materials and classes at the Kafeteria are free. But, due to projected high demand, we encourage reservations to ensure entrance. Our goal is to make art and after-school care more financially accessible for everyone.
Q
Are food and beverages from local vendors at Kreate Kafeteria free?
A
Food and beverages served at the food hall are from local independent street vendors and small restaurants are for purchase. There are opportunities for complimentary meals at special weekly events and select market vendors accept CalFresh EBT benefits year-round.
Q
Will there be the same vendors, crafting activities and live music every day?
A
Vendors/cuisines and feature crafting activities rotate on a weekly basis. Art stations including mosaics, mural painting, a cappella, improv theater, digital design lounge and dance studio are unchanged each week. We release a schedule every Monday at 9 a.m. on our website and social media channels about the weekly cuisine, vendor lineup, crafts and live music schedule.
Q
Who are the food vendors and are they certified?
A
Food vendors rotate weekly, with each week focusing on and highlighting an international cuisine. Every seller is certified in food safety by passing an approved Food Safety Certification and has a letter grade of “A.”
